Hey there! I am SOLO. Welcome to my blog.
I was born in Siberia, Russia, and immigrated to Canada as a teenager. Fascinated by all things human behavior, I have earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology (but not before a short gig in Computer Science!), and went on to teach at a college and university level – including teaching a course in the very classroom when I was a student!
In my past lives, I have been a grad student, a psychology professor, a yoga teacher, and a bootcamp instructor, to name a few.
Never an athlete in my childhood or youth, I did not run my first road race until my mid-20s. That sparked my interest in all things fitness, exercise and nutrition, until I finally took the leap to pursue health coaching full-time.
This blog was started in the summer of 2012 – a year before I took on the Spartan Death Race. It has since morphed into a resource for obstacle racing training, gear reviews, race recaps, with a dash of health and nutrition, and a generous dose of sarcasm.
Currently, I am drinking coffee, helping my clients eat, move and live better, all the while plugging away at my ever growing bucket list, and planning my next adventure.
Check out Operation Free Hugs I held on my birthday last year… 🙂
